Happy Anniversary Mitch!

2026 is Southwest Discoveries owner Mitch Stevens’s 20th anniversary as a naturalist hiking, trekking, and backpacking guide! Mitch has led thousands of hikers over countless miles of natural desert, mountain, canyon, and forest wilderness here in Tucson, Arizona and beyond, and has gained a wealth of knowledge in the process. We’ve got a whole year’s worth of special events planned to celebrate his guided hiking accomplishments, and the first one is coming up this Saturday!

Join us for a Celebration of Art & Culture in Tucson, Arizona & Oaxaca, Mexico this Saturday, January 10th 3:30-5:30 at the De La Vega Gallery!

We are excited to be partnering with the De La Vega Gallery here in Tucson, Arizona for several exciting new cultural offerings throughout the year. This Saturday, we will be holding a special event to celebrate the cultural ties between Tucson, Arizona and Oaxaca, Mexico. There will be live Latin music by Dr. Mario Acosta, a live art demonstration by local Tucson artist Theresa Poalucci, wine and refreshments, local art for sale by Tucson artists, and a special presentation on Oaxaca, Mexico by tour guide and artist Teresa Díaz, who will be co-guiding our upcoming trip to Oaxaca June 5-13!
